The Havens of Hope Children's Homes opened it's doors officially in 2004. Niko Thapa had been involved for over 20 years in youth ministry in Nepal and for many years saw the need and had a vision to minister to orphaned children all around Nepal. He shared this vision first with Wayne Potter from Indianapolis during a medical mission trip to Nepal in 2000 and subsequently with Doug Hall in 2003 during a support raising trip. Niko, Wayne and Doug sensed a real calling from the Lord in late 2003 and so Havens of Hope Children's Homes was born; ensuring a safe home where orphaned children could be cared for, educated and shown the love of God. These children have been given a good childhood thanks to the generous support of our few donors, volunteers and care givers.
Under the name of the Havens of Hope Children's Homes there are two orphan homes, both supported by generous donors and both affiliated with a local church. There are 7 boys and 13 girls. 6 full time staff as well as a number of volunteers from the local churches who help in the running of these orphan homes. The Kathmandu home is closely affiliated with the Pishon River Church pastored by Pastor Niko Thapa, and the Pokhara children's home is closely affiliated with the Bahmatti Church pastured by Basanta Thapa.
